Should I get my hair permed?

I had my hair permed when I was 15 (am now 22) and being a teenager with other things on her mind, didnt take care of it (ie. I brushed it with a hairbrush, not a comb, and never used product) hence it looked bad. But now I am older and wiser to haircare I am considering getting it done again. I am just feeling the need for a change and want to get something different.

I curled my hair for a wedding and I thought it was really nice (except the part where it took 3 hours to do). But then I see someone with beautiful straight hair and I question myself! I usually straighten my hair (which takes time, its not naturally very wavy but it's not naturally straight either), and I think a perm in some ways will be easier to manage (ie. throw some product in so it's not frizzy and away I go).

And we all know the saying "The bigger the hair, the smaller the hips!" lol.

If I do get a perm, there is then the decision on what type of curl. Crazy ringlets or loose curls? Or no perm at all?

Should I get my hair permed?

I suggest you go and get a rod set or a spiral set (same thing as a roller set, but it's on perm rods instead) so you can get the feel for having a perm as an adult before you go for anything permanent. Perms are always damaging and MUST be taken care of properly or they'll give you the Fugly Poodle Effect.

Oh, and if you do choose to get a perm, get a spiral perm. They're much prettier.
