Hair Breaking Off?

For the past year, I've been putting tons of deep conditioners, and hot oil treatments on my hair due to this woman burning it when she colored it.

Well just recently, my hair has started breaking off.

For example:

- I look down at my shirt and nothing is there, but if i look back 10 minutes later theres like 20 strands. [some short, some long]

-Also if i even run my fingers through my hair, it comes out. [not in big clumps or anything, but i deffinetly lose more than the average 100/200 strands a day]

Do you think thats from the many deep conditoners I put on it? [especially V05 Hot Oil Treatment]

Its never did this before.

u could be stressed out talk to ur doctor...

Hair Breaking Off?

if the hair coming out continues, i'd go to your doctor. it could be sign of something else. V05 Hot Oil, i've heard is not great for the hair, cause it's hot oil and damages. that is what a hair dresser said.

Hair Breaking Off?

If you straighten your hair a lot, your hair is breaking because of damage from the heat. So, because your hair is already damaged from the heat, it's getting MORE damaged by the hot oil treatments.

You're right about deep conditioning it to try to fix it, but use a leave-in (not hot) conditioner instead. There are deep conditioners that you can use at night that work really well.

It's normal to lose hair (On average, a person loses about 100 strands a day, so according to what you said, your hair loss is normal), but if you think you're losing MORE hair than normal, you should check with your doctor. A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary. Hormonal problems, infections, underlying diseases and some medicines may also cause hair loss, so it's important to see your doctor if you think you're losing TOO much hair.

Hair Breaking Off?

If you've overdone it on your hair as far as coloring then your hair is stressed out. Don't do anything to it just let it grow. Curling irons can add more damage so let it "breathe" and if it is persistant, see your doctor.

I suppose that you have to the doc. to find out what vitamin deficiencies you have and take the right vitamins and minerals. But if you tried every thing else then you could probably try this .BOB MARTINS yes you heard right . Buy them ,crush them into your conditioner and use as per normal.YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENCE .

Hair Breaking Off?

The reason why your hair is breaking is because i think u know this its because the hairdresser did a bad job and fried your hair , the only thing you can do is to give youself a treatmen once a week for dry damages brittle hair and just wait for the hair to grow in but get your treatment done professionally.

Hair Breaking Off?

I'm not sure if your hair is falling out, or you mean breaking off? if your hair is falling off.. we loose about 45 plus strands a day.. but if its not normal you may seek a doctor... pregnant women tend to loose hair also.. ?

if your hair is just breaking off... i would cut back on the anything with heat, blow drying, flat ironing...

I'd continue to cut off split ends and try not to comb your hair more than once a day...

I'd stop using hot oil treatments, not becuz i believe its causing damage, but becuz i believe they dont work and may be drying your hair out if you use them too much..

try a diff shampoo... color safe.. something with moisturizer, something that wont dry out your hair.

Hair Breaking Off?

yes its makeing your hair to fragile and taking out all the natural oils out of your hair which makes it strong on its own I would say..which sounds kind of gross but dont wash it for like 2 days :p eww I know but the oil will help and just shampoo for a week. good luck

Hair Breaking Off?

yeah .. you should only use the conditioners not the hot oil treatments ..cause thats what causes your hair to fall off ...for example you have your hair burned already from ...dyeing it ...and the hot oil treatment is burning your hair even more and making it more weak , to hold on ...

Hair Breaking Off?

Hair Breaking Off?

NOOOOO

hot oil treatments will not break off hair.. if anything it will only make your hair oily

you say your hair was burnt with color....

i can't imagine what kind of color your stylist was using to do that. Bleach can very well break and damage your hair to the point where it will break off

let me tell you this.. if your hair is very badly damaged.. the only way to get better hair is to cut it off.. that's when your breakage will stop

until then.. your hair will be very fragile.. keep it conditioned and comb/brush it gently.. don't pull on it or iron it or even blow dry it

get your hair cut often and eventually it will grow out..

Hair Breaking Off?

I had the same problem. And actually, you want to close the hair cuticles and hot oil opens them, so that could very well be the problem. Dyes and even some shampoos do this, and definitely the deep conditioners will, they open the cuticle to get conditioner inside the hair shaft.

Since hair is acidic, I thinly slice 3 lemons into my blender (leaving peels on), add about 2 cups of water, then run it at the highest level for about 2 minutes. Then I strain out the pulp.

I use a no -sulfates shampoo and since it's very thick, I mix it half and half with the juice. Once a week I also put the lemon juice on my hair (by brushing my hair forwards and dipping it into a bowl of the mixture, then get it on my hands and wet the rest of my head). I let it dry and take a shower next morning as usual. No - your hair won't feel nasty and sticky, etc, it actually feels good!

Anyway, my hair is looking absolutely GREAT! I still have some breakage, but it is SO much less now! And I have only been doing this about 2 weeks. It just keeps getting better! And my hair feels SO good! I only use a leave in conditioner, and a lot less of it than I used to. I can run my hands through my hair and come away without a strand, and my hair is much less notted. My fly aways are almost gone, too. I have spent so much and had very limited, short lasting results, this way has so far done nothing but get better! Good luck!
